SCOPDIAL User Guide

SCOPDIAL is a browser extension for detecting and calling phone numbers that on web pages. It detects certain string patterns, highlights them, and initiates a call when clicking.  SCOPDIAL now is available for the Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox.

Requirement

 
You must have a valid extension on a phone connected to a SCOPTEL system.  When calling, this plugin will initiate a call from that extension.

Installation


Select the installation for your browser type.

Chrome

  1. Go to SCOPDIAL extension for Chrome at this address: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/scopdial/ilnpopeihdgkpefkmbpgbebcipagbiad?hl=en  
  2. Click Add to Chrome, then Add extension.
  3. If you don't see SCOPDIAL icon on toolbar, then you need pin SCOPDIAL into the toolbar
    1. Click on extensions icon 
    2. When extensions dialog appear, you click on PIN icon


Firefox

  1. Go to SCOPDIAL extension for Firefox with the address: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-CA/firefox/addon/scopdial/?utm_source=addons.mozilla.org&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=search 
  2. Click “Add to Firefox” and confirm your choice by clicking "Add".
  3. Click "Okay, Got it"
  4. Open new tab, then go to a web page. You can see SCOPDIAL icon appear on the toolbar
  5. Click on SCOPDIAL icon to use.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Go to SCOPDIAL extension for Chrome at this address: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/scopdial/ilnpopeihdgkpefkmbpgbebcipagbiad?hl=en
  2. Click Add to Chrome.
  3. On the dialog Add "SCOPDIAL" to Microsoft Edge, click Add extension
  4. Open new tab, then click on SCOPDIAL icon to use.


Configuration & Test


To configure SCOPDIAL, you will need your PBX info:
  1. Server address: your PBX server's address (with protocol, ex. https://)
  2. Port: your PBX server's port
  3. Tenant: your tenant
  4. Extension: your extension
  5. Password: your password
If you do not have this info, consult your system administrator.

Config dialog

  1. Click icon SCOPDIAL or press Alt + S
  2. If its status is OFF, then you click in this status OFF  to turn ON. The call icon is red meaning the configuration isn’t completed.
  3. Click Config PBX to open the PBX config dialog.
  4. Enter your server and extension information.
  5. Click Apply changes. It should display "authenticated", otherwise consult your system admin.



When loading new web pages, phone numbers will be highlighted.  Browsing windows and tabs that were already loaded will need to be refreshed for this change to take effect.

To Call Displayed Number

To call a displayed number :
  1. Click the highlighted number.
  2. Modify the number if needed.
  3. Click the phone icon.

To Call Direct

You can also initiate a directly call a phone number:
  1.  Click the SCOPDIAL logo in your modules.
  2. Type the number to dial.
  3. Click the 'phone' icon.


Setup pattern settings

There are two kinds of pattern: system patterns (by default) and user-defined pattern. The systems patterns are used to detect most phone numbers.

Usage pattern settings

You can define the pattern for your case.
  1. Click on “Pattern settings” to open patterns form.
  2. Click ? to see the pattern formats. 
  3. Click on ‘+’ to create new pattern.
  4. Enter the pattern name (for example: test).
  5. Define the pattern, and example phone number for this pattern
  6. Click Save changes.
  7. Load or refresh a web page to see if the pattern is picked up correctly.


To modify or delete the user-defined patterns, click on   or   for delete/edit the user-defined patterns.
To change the priority for user-defined patterns, click Up/Down icon to change the priority for user-defined patterns.
Don't forget to click Save changes to preserve your changes.

Using SCOPCOMM:

Instead of using a physical phone, you can use SCOPCOMM Desktop on your desktop computer like a softphone for calling.  
  1. Download and install SCOPCOMM Desktop on your machine from https://download.scopserv.com/software/.  There is Windows and MacOS version.
  2. Login onto it with your SCOPCOMM credentials.
You must be logged into SCOPCOMM before use.
