ScopTEL CallerID Emergency Lines

Module 22 - ScopTEL - Configuring CallerID and Emergency Lines

Emergency Lines Summary

Emergency Lines are configured to override any existing outgoing Caller ID configuration if the Extension dials a matching number assigned to its Class of Service which is also configured to allow Emergency Lines in the correct priority.

Outgoing Lines Caller ID

ScopTEL Outgoing CallerID has a hierarchy. The hierarchy is used to send generic global CallerID using Outgoing Lines.
By drilling down to Extensions|Caller ID is possible to override Outgoing Line by de-selecting the default External Call configuration and setting External Call information.

If the Extension must send a unique Caller ID for Emergency Calls then the Override Outgoing CallerID for Emergency Call option must be enabled

If Emergency Lines are configured for one or more Extensions then the Class of Service applied to each Extension must also be edited to allow Emergency Lines. This is done by de-selecting the default Enable All Outgoing Lines checkbox and using the Select tool to add the required Outgoing Lines, Local Extensions, and Emergency Lines to the each assigned Class of Service

Lines | Emergency Lines | General

You must add one or more Emergency Lines to match an outgoing dial string which will later be assigned to one or more Class of Service objects.
Emergency Number is the Number that ScopTEL will try to match to a Class of Service assigned to an Extension.
Number to Dial is the number that ScopTEL will dial when it detects the Emergency Number and that number is matched to an assigned Class of Service
Name is the name of the Emergency Line as it will appear in the Class of Service|Outgoing lines selector
Example: Extension dials 911, CoS is matched and allowed the digits 911 are passed to the trunk

Lines | Emergency Lines | Optons

On the Options tab choose the desired Trunk selection to place the Outgoing Call
Select any other options desired
If you enable Record all outgoing call ?: [x] then the call will be recorded as a wav file and saved to ScopSTATS CDR reports.

Lines | Emergency Lines | Notification | Actions

You can configure multiple Actions to invoke once the Emergency Line has been dialed by an Extension
Use drop list to select:
None
Play a Message(s)
Bridge Extension(s)  Example: Create a silent conference call with local Security Desk
Extension
Page and Announce. Example: Use the overhead or internal paging system to announce which Extension placed an emergency call.
Email. Example: Notify an administrator by email that an emergency call was placed by Extension.
SMS Example: Send an SMS using an SMS gateway that an emergency call was placed by Extension

Outgoing Lines | Caller ID

This is the minimum configuration required to send a custom outgoing name and number if the carrier allows you to override their trunk settings
Check the box to Enable Presentation indicator and select the Presentation Allowed, Passed Screen option
The Caller ID Number and Caller Name options are generic options and aren’t mandatory.  They are not mandatory because each Extension can override the Outgoing Caller ID of the Outgoing Line using each Extension’s Caller ID tab.  However if each extension will send the same Outgoing Name and Number then these fields should be filled in on Each Outgoing Line.
If an Extension has its Caller ID defined correctly it will override any Outgoing Line selected by its assigned Class of Service.

Extension | Caller ID | External Call

If an Extension’s Outgoing Line Caller ID info is to be overwritten then you must edit the Extension’s Caller ID tab and change the External Call defaults. You can also use the Mass Operations Wizard to edit many Extensions at once.
You must de-select Use current extension information ? [ ]
This will make the Caller Name, Caller Number and Allow extension to override outgoing CallerID options visible.
You must Enter a Caller Name
special characters are not supported
Many carrier will not allow you to override the Caller ID assigned to your trunk. Be sure to check with your carrier first. This also applies to Emergency Call info.
You must enter a Caller Number
most carriers will not allow you configure a Toll Free number

Extension | Caller ID | External Call | Override Outgoing CallerID for Emergency Call

For an Extension to override its normal Caller ID configuration to send specific Emergency Call Caller ID then you must enable Override Outgoing CallerID for Emergency Call? :[x]
You must Enter a Caller Name
special characters are not supported
Many carrier will not allow you to override the Caller ID assigned to your trunk. Be sure to check with your carrier first. This also applies to Emergency Call info.

Extension | General | Class of Service

The Class of Service assigned to this Extension must be assigned a Class of Service with a valid Class of Service configuration which has the correct Emergency Lines assigned to its Outgoing Line configuration.

Class of Service | Outgoing Lines

You must de-select Enable All Outgoing Lines ?:[ ] because the default
Class of Service allows all Outgoing Lines but does not include Emergency or Special Lines. Also the Emergency Lines by default could be in the wrong priority order which could result in these lines not selected for an Emergency Call.
Emergency Lines should have the highest possible priority to ensure they are selected for outdial before another matching entry is matched.
Once everything is configured Saved, and Committed you should test your configuration.
