Set the FQDN (Fully Qualified Host Name)

Configure each network interface using the GUI
NOTE: GUI configuration will always overwrite any configuration made by the Linux console!
Save your changes and Commit
Network|DNS Server
From this page click on the Configuration Wizard
Click on Enable DNS Server
From the drop list select the domain portion of the FQDN, do not include the hostname portion.
Click next.
Enter some descriptive text into the View Name.
Click Next
Scroll down to Apply Changes.
Click Finish and close any additional popup windows.
Client View|Configuring Forwarding Servers
Click on the Client Views tab and edit the view
Click on the Forwarding and Caching tab to add a forwarder address(es).
Separate each forwarder address with a space.
This is necessary to forward DNS requests which cannot be resolved by local DNS A records.
In this example two of the Internet's root hint servers 198.41.0.4 199.9.14.201 are configured but can be substituted for any DNS server capable of servicing any public DNS requests.
Click Save when done and Commit your network changes with the Commit button.
Once Done click on the General tab.
Network|General|Bootup Services Manager
Edit the General tab to bring up the Bootup Services Manager.
Select the DNS Server from the available services.
Click on Apply Change
The DNS Server may appear Stopped.
Click on Start Service.
If the DNS Server appears running then click Restart the DNS Server to make sure the service has reloaded the new configuration.
The DNS Server is now running.
If you need to add any local DNS records then click on DNS Server and click on the Zones tab.
Locate the new zone and click on the text/url to add records.
Adding Custom Zone Records
Click Add a new Zone Record
In this example the Record Type selection will be IPv4 Address (A)
Enter the Host name for this local DNS A record.
In this example a hostname for a prigateway is added so that any DNS client using this DNS server can use prigateway.trainingdomain.com as a FQDN instead of an IP Address.
Click on the Add button when done.
Commit your network changes and the use the Network|General|Services Manager to restart the DNS Server with the new A record(s).
Add any additional records as necessary.
Whenever adding a new record be certain to Commit Network changes and use the Network|Services Manager to restart the DNS Server to activate those changes.
